3 Reasons to use a Social Media Checklist
Key ingredients to planning, developing, and implementing an effective social media strategy are having great content and being very consistent. Here are three reasons a Social Media Checklist will help you with your social media efforts:
- It FORCES you to be consistent. My social media checklist has points assigned to each task – most of these are daily tasks but some are weekly and monthly. The more points I get – the more cool little things I allow myself to do. I like doing cool little things – so I very much pay attention to what I’ve accomplished each day. As I look at my checklist for today – it’s about 230pm and I have marked off over 50 tasks related to social media already. Using a checklist is dull, boring, and takes some discipline – dull and boring repetitive tasks reap huge rewards when we’re talking about social media.
- You create better content. Rather than flying by the seat of your pants and hoping something sticks when you throw it out there – you will have opportunity to sit back and think for a few minutes. Working a plan and implementing a strategy with a checklist also pushes you to be creative. If you know you want to write about a specific topic or subject today – it’s much, much easier to create content than if you also have to come up with a subject or topic. Organization and strategy really pay off when you are searching for the right content and using a checklist.
- It saves you valuable time and energy. If you are using a checklist for just about anything – it makes the project so much easier – from a physical standpoint as well as a mental perspective. I literally don’t have to think about what to do next – it’s all right in front of me. I can focus all of my brainpower on the content itself. Result: better content and more traffic – not to mention less stress. Another benefit is a gigantic savings of valuable time. You can zip right thru your daily social media tasks in record time!

I can’t say enough about what a superstar Beth is. She’s managed search campaigns for me at two organizations with very different budgets, goals and products, and at both places, her performance has been stellar. Beth is unique in her depth of understanding of search, ability to understand business objectives and execute the search strategy based on that, understanding of a direct response approach, and integrity as it relates to spending of budget and client billing.
She also is responsive to requests, and I would call on her agency for any search related initiative, knowing that she knows how to drive results quickly.
