A SEO Look Back at 2017
2017 was a wild ride for the SEO industry — algorithm updates, mobile-first, the continued rise of voice search — so let’s break it all down. Where have we been? Where are we going?
Taking a look back at all the changes to Search Engine Optimization in 2017:
- Meta descriptions can now be 320 characters, but don’t update yours per Googlers
- Google will stop crawling & indexing content from the old AJAX Crawling Scheme in Q2 2018
- Google’s new “Best Answer” carousel rich snippets seen out in the wild
- Matt Cutts is now a disgruntled Webmaster & continues to criticize Google
2018 predictions? Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Search and Voice Search
In some ways, 2017 simply witnessed the continuation of SEO trends driven by the pervasiveness of mobile devices—the increase in mobile search and voice search. As 2017 draws to a close, close to 80% of all Internet searches begin on mobile devices.
